May 15th: Meeting and Remaining
It's time again for Friday's musical selection, each drawn from songs discussed in some way in The Desire for Mutual Recognition.
Today, The Byrds recall for us that joyful experience, alas rare today but not always so, when we are able to come out to the other and remain there, fully present together, not feeling compelled by fear to hurry back inside our guarded shell.
Was it while taking peyote long ago, or was it when once falling in love, that I found it was possible to "never hit bottom and to keep falling through/Just relaxed and paying attention"? Yet in a rising moment of a coming social movement, we may all be able as one to open our hearts to the whole universe, and find it is loving, and see the great blunder our teachers had made, scientific delirium madness. And today, can we approach this wisdom intentionally through our own daily practice of entering this common space of awareness together and engaging in what I in the book call "spiritual stitching"(p.203-204)?
