Assuming the Republican-controlled Senate refuses to renew CARES Act unemployment benefits due to expire on July 31, millions will simultaneously face poverty, spiking coronavirus risk, threat of eviction, and loss of their health insurance. The invisible worry and anxiety that this is already generating is silently forcing people to choose between their and their families' physical safety and (trying to) go out to work.
